The architects of the company Li Xiaodong Atelier submitted a draft library Liyuan Library, built near Beijing, China. It is a modest addition to the infrastructure of the small village of Huairou and, on the one hand, is a modern addition, and on the other – the architecture emphasizes the closeness to nature, its respect and reverence for the locals. Beautiful natural conditions formed the basis for the project. The architects have done their best to Liyuan Library harmoniously blended with the surrounding nature, thanks to a good location and selection of materials. Noting that virtually everyone around the building in the village there are heaps of wooden sticks, it was decided to use them and work on the facade of the library. Locals collect them all year round and used as fuel for cooking stoves. But facing their new design was a creative decision.
